    Great courage!!!!! Health care is the most important progressive mission of the 21st Century like Medicare was in 1965. It is horrible to see millions with no health insurance. That is wrong. Mr. Moyers thanks for showing us this.

    NO! NO! NO! to this health care bill; it all sounds good when Obama gets on the air waves blowing smoke up people’s ASS! What he isn’t saying is under this new Health Care Plan the parents or parent with children has to keep there child on there health care plan until they reach the age 26! I’ve always been a Democrat and even voted for Obama, but I must agree with the rep on this one there is parts of this bill that really “stinks”, and the public is in for a very rude awaking should this pass.

    Congress is on solid Constitutional ground in expanding health insurance coverage in essentially any fashion that is politically and socially feasible.

    The individual mandate may well be odious for other reasons without a strong public option, it basically forces everyone to become a customer of a private insurance monopoly. But constitutionality aint one of em.

    All the Repugs love the Tenth Amendment, which is usually what they are referring to when they call something unconstitutional (except for, of course, gun control). It says, The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” I’m not a constitutional scholar, but I am not aware of any otherwise valid laws being struck down by the Supreme Court on the basis of that Amendment.

    The words “socialism” or “unconstitutional”, are bogus. The Medical industry spends $1.4 million A DAY, of YOUR PREMIUMS, to defeat the people’s wishes, this health care reform inititive!
    I was denied coverage for new dentures because it was, “cosmetic”. Cosmetic? Do you mind if I eat? I’ve been paying insurance premiums for over forty years.
    The CEOs think $10 million a year is not too much. Who are these people? The constitution provides for the “people’s welfare” and “common good”.

    Reagan’s propoganda was taken directly from the PR books of corporations.

    In canada, our doctors are private…only the insurance is public.

    They are pushing so hard becuase unless the supply is more competitive and the demand side offers a more affordable, collectivized insurance, healthcare will collapse.

They want to control the masses, Teddy Roosevelt first proposed national health insurance in 1912, FDR proposed it again in the 1930s. Harry Truman proposed it again in the 1940s. They’ve been waiting along time for this progressive power holy grail issue, healthcare is the way to pure Socialism, Reagan was warning of this as far back as the 60s. Oh, let’s not forget Hillarycare.

    You only need to look at the economies of Canada or England and ask yourself “how come their economies have not ground to a halt after so many years of this “dangerous socialist” health care system. Or “why do they live an average of three years longer than Americans” with this “socialized” system. Maybe a for-prifit police or fire department would be appealing to these right-wing turds, or a for-profit library? – Because that would make them the mafia & a used book store.

    Watching this debate play out from Canada is sad. The blatant lies that Americans have been told about our health care system would be funny if they weren’t so full of evil intent.
    Sadly, there is no hope that Obama will have the courage to confront and shame the many members of congress who have been bought and paid for by the health care industry.
    Meanwhile, Canada (along with most civilized countries) will continue to enjoy the competitive advantage of universal health care.

    USA people pay 7000 $ a year for every citizen on Health Care what they are getting 50.000.000 uninsured This is goverment number and they lie. Do they have the best care — NO.
    People in USA are dumb as HELL – they are protesting Universal Health Care bill but when goverment bailed out BILLIONAIRES in Wall Street nobody was protesting. This is scary fact.
    USA people already paying for health care THEY are not getting it.

    sounds very nice ,but no change whatsoever,because you still be insured and wouldnt get the treatment ,same as it is now in your case,besides who is going to pay for all this ?just make the insurance liable for their contracts that they close with people,thats all what it takes

    Ask yourself WHY is it that the pieces of SHIT at AIG get bonuses paid for by US Taxpayers? These insurance companies have HMOs that cause insureds to die. Have Preferred Repair Facilities that insureds and victims of insureds are steered towards and told LIES that IF they do not use PRF auto claim will NOT be paid. Plus Preferred Contractor Programs for property damage. Same insurer pays CEO $14 million! WTF for? These people FAILED and AIG and banks should go BANKRUPT. I am gonna be a PA.

    20,000 americans die yearly because they are denied healthcare. Insurance CEO’s make money by DENYING CLAIMS not by saving lives. Why would anyone trust the greedy selfish filthy rich that live off of our premiums and by letting us die.

    I subbed and saved this to favs! This is reality and people don’t realize this. Insurance companies are ruling the doctors. I think we can have Universal Health Care if it is done right. I don’t like that Medicare will be cut. Also, ssi will not have a cost of living increase allocated for the next 2 yrs. Many people don’t qualify for Medical Assistance which in PA is highly funded for food stamps, drug and dental coverage. Why should the elderly suffer? In PA they even give out cell phones.

    Blue Dog Max Baucus has received $2,797,381 from the health sector and $1,170,313 from the insurance sector. Ummm? Does that tell you anything? I am going to every Max video, and every health care reform video on YouTube and getting this out there!     got blue cross blue shield of Florida, they want pay for specialist, want pay for all of the pysical thearpy I need, meds are high have to cut them in hafl
    had to go out of work for medical reason
    having to apply for disability
    worked 32 years sometimes 2 jobs had plan on working until 65 but now 48 cannot hardly do anything

    I suppose 2nd rate is better than not being able to afford anything. For years I did not have employer provided health insurance and I was up to $800 per month….just for me….alone

    hey inkey2: DID YOU KNOW… that the “number one” reason that European citizens have a lower standard of life than their American counterparts is because of the huge amounts of taxes imposed on them to pay for second rate health care that they themselves might never have to use? health insurance might be sucky, but I’d rather have those leeches sucking at my blood then the US government, an institution that is renowned for fucking up.

    to micahtv: DID YOU KNOW…that the “number one” reason for personal bankruptcy in the USA is “medical expences”. This is a statistical fact. I don’t see how socialized medicine could be any worse than what we have now. It is getting to the point where Americans just can’t afford to ever be sick. In fact……the best thing that could happen to a sick American is to “drop dead quickly” to avoid all the suffering and financial devestation
